Coursework Update FAQ

We are committed to continually enhancing our students’ overall learning experience and ensuring our programs reflect the latest developments in the field. Our coursework components have largely remained the same since OBN’s inaugural cohort.  These strategic updates are designed to support your long-term learning while best preparing you to work in the field as a CNC.

Please note that all updated coursework is a newly formatted version of our existing coursework—therefore, the subject matter and learning objectives remain the same.

You don’t need to finish a course or program before the new coursework is rolled out. That being said, if you are actively working on any assignments, projects, or client trials, they will need to be submitted before the rollout.

Otherwise, the coursework may change and your current progress on that submission could no longer be relevant.

If you are currently in the middle of an assignment, project, or client trial, please be sure to complete and submit this work before the updates go live. After coursework changes are released, all new submissions will need to follow the updated format, so any partially completed work may no longer be relevant.

However, unless you are actively preparing to submit something as outlined above, there’s no rush to complete the course you are currently progressing in before the launch. You can simply submit the new coursework at your own pace once it becomes available.

No, you won’t need to retake any course that you have already completed. Additionally, any coursework that has been successfully completed will still count towards your final grade, even if some of your submissions are from our previous grading system.

Yes, all of the coursework you’ve submitted so far remains relevant, and all previous grades will continue to be stored for our records.

Your final grades won’t be affected by this transition.

No, you will not be able to redo any completed courses, or re-submit any previously completed coursework. Any re-submissions of any previously completed course will not be evaluated or re-graded.

If you have already conducted one or both of your Client Trial consultations, but have yet to start the write-up portion, you can make one of the following choices:

A) Work to complete and submit both Client Trial write-ups for your current course by April 15th, 2025, 11:59 pm Pacific Time. (Recommended)

B) Hold off on your Client Trial coursework until the updates are available. Please note that the structure of Client Trials will be impacted by these coursework updates and the volunteers you have worked with may no longer meet the eligibility criteria.

If you have already submitted one of your Client Trials, we encourage you to conduct and submit your second Client Trial by April 15th, 2025 (11:59 pm Pacific Time).
